Shri Surat Jilla Sahakari Bank Commerce College & Shri Sayan Sahakari Khand Udhyog Arts College, Olpad Dist. Surat
We are pleased to introduce our esteemed institution, located in Olpad Taluka, District Surat, established in the academic year 1991–92 by the late Shri Pramodbhai Kanaiyalal Desai—a respected freedom fighter, co-operative movement leader, and social reformer. He was also the elder brother of the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Hitendrabhai Kanaiyalal Desai. The college is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, and operates in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University as well as the Government of Gujarat.
Until 1947, Olpad Taluka did not have a single secondary school. To commemorate India’s independence, Shri Pramodbhai Desai took the initiative to establish secondary schools in the region. Once that vision was realized, the growing need for higher education became apparent. Given the socio-economic challenges faced by families in the area, many students could not afford to travel to Surat for further studies and were forced to discontinue their education after secondary school. Taking these factors into account, Shri Pramodbhai Desai founded the college with a mission to make higher education accessible locally.
The college’s objective has been successfully fulfilled, significantly benefiting the youth of Olpad Taluka. From an initial enrollment of just 150 students, the college now proudly serves nearly 2,000 students. It remains the only higher education institution in the taluka offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Arts and Commerce stream.
We are proud to note that the student strength continues to grow each year, and the college consistently earns strong academic grades across disciplines. In addition to academics, our students actively participate and excel in extracurricular areas such as Sports, NSS, NCC, and various Cultural Activities. The college also regularly organizes seminars, guest lectures, and educational events on diverse subjects to enrich the learning experience.

Established in 1991–92 by the late Shri Pramodbhai Kanaiyalal Desai—a distinguished freedom fighter and social reformer—our college is the pride of Olpad Taluka, District Surat. Affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, the institution was founded to make higher education accessible to the socially and economically disadvantaged students of the region.

Regular seminars and guest lectures further enhance their academic experience.
